Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there.
Church was a nightmare of sorts. They cancelled nursery for the service and Scott was working so I had to sit with both girls in the back row and try to entertain them. Lexi did not understand the meaning of we need to be quiet although a few times she did try whisper. That was in between gathering ALL the hymnals from the row–even asking the people at the end of the row by giving a puppy dog look–and stacking them in one stack on the pew (picture captured while trying to find something to distract her) and banging her toys on the top of the pew in front of us. She also managed to put lipstick all over her place, throw my cards all over the floor and run back and forth between my row and MIL’s row. And that’s just Lexi. Emma wasn’t as bad but was sifting through cards, walking on the pew, walking through pews with S. Thankfully she stayed with MIL once she got out of the choir loft. I’m telling you if they ever cancel nursery again, I’m just going home.
We went out to eat with my parents for lunch and then went shopping at KMart and Home Depot. I went out on a whim and bought some half fake-half real wedding rings. The gold is 10K but the stone is CZ. It’s really pretty though and I got it 70% off. For the past 3 years I’ve been wearing a $30 silver ring from Myrtle Beach since my other one breaks me out every time I try to wear it. I’m hoping our ten year anniversary brings me a replacement of some sorts next year.
We spent a few hours at home after that when I got some cleaning done and then I headed to church to help take care of an issue with a youth while Scott and the girls went to IL’s house for a Father’s Day dinner. We ended up there until 9 and then stopped at Mom’s on the way home. They had a bunch of stuff of mine for me to go through before they move this week. Let me tell you, I was the biggest pat rack ever. I had every story I had written from middle school. I had an entire leaf collection from science in high school. I had wood projects from middle school. I had history papers and geometry papers. It was ridiculous. I did salvage a few things including a paper about my great grandmother that died in 1994. I plan to type that up soon and post it probably. It had details in it that I had already forgotten about her. It’s those things that I hope I keep around and reasons I keep a blog now.
So that was the day. It went fast and now I have work looming in the morning. I have some documentation to get out in the morning and some production problems to work through. No L this week, she’s at the beach :(.
One Lexi story from today though before I go. We always sing Happy Birthday at the end of church and people with a birthday that week come and give a dollar for missions. I told Lexi to look at me, I was singing Happy Birthday. She just stared at me with wide eyes for a few seconds, put her hands on her chest and said, “Meeee??!”
Actually one more story I need to get on paper. The other night we were all in the living room and Scott and the girls were just playing on the floor. Lexi put her hands out and said something. She’s still hard to understand at times and Scott and I looked at each other puzzled. Then it hit us at the same time she was saying, “What’s. go-ing on?” Probably not funny to anyone but us just because Lexi is so easy going and never says anything like that. But it was funny to us and one of those things we’ll want to remember.
Update:
Lexi and Emma went to sleep together for the first time tonight. Lately Lexi has been going into Emma’s bed and then I take Lexi to her crib. Scott left Lexi in there and she never walked out like she has in the past when we tried that. I found this when I went to check on them. Awww…
