So I have a test for you. Think of all the words that start with "A". Go ahead. Think of them.
Apple.
Amy.
Alligator.
Yeah, that’s about as far as I got in the van with Emma when she asked me to play along with her game. Then Mom and Heather got in the van on the way to O’Charley’s tonight and I asked them. So we start blurting out "A" words.
Amazing.
Alluring.
We see a sign on the interstate and say "Applebee’s". And then we drove down the road and randomly blurt out more.
Almost.
Always.
The words almost came out as word associations either by meaning or spelling.
Antacid.
Antihistamine.
Antiseptic.
Amnesia.
In fact, we spent the rest of the evening randomly blurting out words that started with "A". Heather, I have another one. Angel.
I’ve sort of ruined "A" but try it with another letter. It’s not as easy as you think.

Some friends of mine in college played a similar game after our nights out clubbing. We’d leave the ‘dactyl and go to the Waffle House on 85 and spend the whole time wolfing down eggs and bacon while trying to think of as many words as possible that ended in “-ation” (like generation, constipation, anticipation). We did it ALL THE TIME.
Amy says
Oh..that’s a good one. Heather was still calling me with A words this morning…the -ation one is good though, especially since it’s not as easy to cheat with a dictionary. Let’s see….
