I felt like AI IGB was really good. I loved how the contestants were all on stage talking to people live. The performances were great. I was late watching last night and didn’t watch the opening until this morning. I love, love, loved Jason’s part in the opening group number, even if it was just a few seconds. I also thought Syesha did quite well with that little number. She finally seemed as Simon would say, relevant.
I particularly liked Annie Lenox’s piece. I think that’s the one that truly inspired me to help.
On a truly superficial note can I say I couldn’t help but love Brad Pitt and Chris Daughtry on screen together within 30 seconds of each other. Wow, that was some good tv.
But what seems to have everyone chatting this morning is this finale. Yes, Shout to the Lord is an obviously Christian and truly inspiring song but they changed Jesus to shepherd. What do we think of this?
I have to say I’m kinda bothered by it. When I first heard they were gonna do the song I was shocked they’d actually let Jesus on the stage, but I guess that was never really the intention. That way they don’t “offend” anyone, and still appeal to some lukewarm in faith. Sad..

I’m kinda torn by this.
While they did change the word Jesus to Shepard, the work Lord and Savior and King are all still in there.
I think it’s great that they had that song on there at all. Remember when Mandisa sang Shackled? Didn’t go over well at all, so I’m pleased with this.
Idol gives back in no way, shape or form, has religious ties to it, but they brought it in. I’m sure the person who decided this was not a firm in his faith Christian otherwise the word Jesus would’ve remained, but shouldn’t we be glad that millions of people hear part of the Word last night, people that might never have otherwise heard it?
I don’t know. Maybe I’m wrong in that. But I’m able to show people Jesus without mentioning His name. For some, I’m the only Jesus they will ever know.
Perhaps seeds were planted last night. I hope so and I pray so.
But I feel like a “bad” Christian because I’m not furious that they changed Jesus to shepard but I’m not sure that I should feel that way.
Something to think about…

Amy, you have to download the studio version off iTunes. It brought me to tears it’s so awesome. They even even say Jesus.
I hate it that they took it out for the show but I’m just thrilled that sang it. Absolutely the most moving praise song in my opinion.
They did say Jesus last night, but not the night before. Hmmmm …
