Boys, go far, far away from this one. In fact, I’m going to make everyone click so they have to work to read this one.
Ladies, let’s hope you never have a Bartholin’s Cyst abscess because it’s not fun to get it drained! OMG, let me tell you of what I went through today. I can not be the only one to experience it today..I’m going to make you say Ouch and feel sorry for me!
A new dr saw me today b/c my original one was out. He immediately saw that it had an infection and got right to the draining! I think he may have rubbed some sort of local cream to numb the area for the shot of Novocaine but numb it it did not. That sucker hurt! Now if you’re trying to picture how and where this is going down, head on over here for some pretty medical pictures.
So back to the needle, it was big and it hurt. I was squirming and ahhhhh-ing. No crying but boy did it hurt. He likened it to sitting on a bumble bee. I likened it to getting a large needle stuck in my vagina. Ok, but if that hasn’t happened to you, liken it to sitting on a very large bumble bee. Sure.
After that, I didn’t feel anything but I saw the blade he cut me with and I saw the drainage. And only because I’m curious like that. I asked him to let me see it. I also was the one in the delivery room asking to see the placenta. Go figure. Basically imagine a pimple the size of a cherry tomato being popped mixed with blood. That’s what came out of there. Let’s all say ewwww together. He said no wonder I was hurting.
After that, he put the catheter in which wasn’t all too comfortable. It was a bit different than I thought. A picture of the catheter can be seen on that page I linked to above. There is about 2 inches of it sticking out and it gets tucked up inside. And guess what else? It has to stay in there for SIX WEEKS. If not, the new opening for the duct may not be done forming and I’ll be right back there with the same thing.
So afterwards..I was able to walk with no issues. The pain is about the same as it was on Monday before I got antibiotics. It’s annoying and hurts to walk around a lot. He gave me some Vic-o-din and I just took one. He did say we should be able to resume sexual activity as soon as I get over the whole cutting thing as long as we use LOTS of lubricant. He recommends KY Silk for anyone interested. And hopefully that’s the last we’ll ever, ever hear of any cyst being drained.
Ewwww! Hope it heals quickly and permanently!
Thanks!
I’m squirming. :-/
Amanda’s last blog post..Did you see this?
As much as I sympatize with the pain this must have caused…I love your sense of humour in describing it. This post had me squirming while I laughed out loud!
Hope you feel better soon.
Like Carolyn, I laughed out loud when you made your own comparison.
I can empathize a bit from when I had a boil lanced on my inner thigh a couple years ago. Like you, there was no “numbing” before that needle went in and it HURT LIKE A BITCA. I got EIGHT shots though – but even so, I couldn’t even imagine having a lancing done on an even MORE sensitive area like you did! God bless ya girl, I was crying like a baby with mine.
