OK, last week I was so excited several reps had contacted me directly about info for my One Tree Hill Blog site. Well..let me tell you what happened to.day. The same rep for the movie The List who had given us 5 DVDs to giveaway asked me today if I would be interested in INTERVIEWING HILARIE BURTON about the movie. My response was um…YEAH!!!!
I called Heather and literally screamed on the phone! What in the world am I going to ask her? Yeah, the movie questions are pretty easy..what’s the movie about? What’s your character like? etc but of course I want to know if I can ask questions about One Tree Hill and if I can in fact do that, I’m assuming I only get a couple and what in the world do I ask significant enough in 2 or 3 questions? I’m sure I could talk all night about One Tree Hill, especially with Hilarie but how do I pare it down to a few questions if in fact I can ask any at all? And I know nothing about interviewing anybody about anything! I think I might remember practicing interviewing Abe Lincoln in middle school or something?!
Wow, I’m flabbergasted I was even asked but so excited I might get the chance to do it. She responded and said I’m on “the list” and she’d keep me in the loop. I really hope this pans out because it would be SO COOL!
*freak out done, composing myself*

I thought the finale was fantastic tonight. Mom was underwhelmed by DC. I thought he did great but I really think Archey pulled through tonight. I thought I’d be a little bit bored when he sang Imagine again but WOW he was perfect. I actually preferred DC’s coronation song. It’s actually something I wouldn’t mind listening to another few times. Archey’s on the other hand was a bit boring although he sang it well. I think I have to give the night to Archey though. If he wins, I hope someone has a mop nearby because he is going to be a puddle on the floor!

Boys, go away, you don’t care about this. And for that matter, if you don’t like graphic medical talk, you go away too.
But I have to say, reading about someone’s medical journey can be interesting too.
Plus, I wholeheartedly believe knowledge is power and so many people are searching the Internet these days for medical info so I’m going to add this on here for Google’s sake. (Do I get extra points in my Google rank if I actually use Google’s name several times??) Furthermore, you wouldn’t believe the amount of 13 year olds searching on forums about lumps in their vaginas which really turn out to be their cervix. Not helpful.
Anyway.
Saturday I started feeling sore “down there”. Sort of felt like I had been cycling for too long. Except I haven’t done anything even close to exercise for months now. I brushed it off seeing how clumsy I am and thought maybe I had bruised myself somehow. And no, there’s no way it was some freak sexual maneuver…Scott’s been gone for 7 days now.
By Sunday, it was hurting bad enough I got curious enough and found a gumball size lump to the right of outer labia. It was sore to the touch and hurt when I sat down, bent down or when I wiped. Otherwise it didn’t hurt.
Well, by Monday it had grown to about the size of a cherry tomato and it was hurting all the time. Not so much that I was taking any pain pills but I knew it wasn’t right and I had never had anything like that. And well, when you go searching on the Internet about lumps, the Cancer word tends to come up and freak you out. I made an appointment to see my GYN for this afternoon.
It didn’t take him long to determine I had one of my search results…a Bartholin’s Gland Cyst. Basically you have a duct that produces lubrication and it can get clogged up. And when it does that, it may or may not get infected. My doctor told me there was no good way to tell if it was infected or not so they like to go ahead and drain it but they’d go ahead and put me on antibiotics to see if that helped. If it hadn’t helped in 2-3 days, they’d put gel on it to numb it, give me a shot of Novocaine, cut the cyst open, drain it then stick in a catheter that I had to wear for about a week or until it fell out.
FABULOUS.
And guess when my appointment is? Roughly 7 hours before Scott returns from his 10 trip out of the country. And I’m going to have a catheter for 7 days. He’s going to love this one.
Lexi: Mommy! There’s CVS and Walgreens
Me: Yep!
Lexi: Why is it Walgreens?
Me: Uh….that’s just what they named it.
Lexi: How is Walgreens on this road?
Me: Uh…someone built it here.
Lexi: What road are we on?
Me: Sutton Road
Lexi: I like Watermelons.
Me: Really?
Lexi: Yeah…
Today was a pretty laid-back day.
The only thing out of the ordinary was Lexi’s first filling at the dentist. She didn’t like the laughing gas after a few seconds and kept saying “I’m done” but she was talked pretty easily into letting it sit there. We waited FOREVER for the dentist but she laid there while watching Diego. She did really good and never cried until the very end when they put the blue light on the tooth and for some reason THAT made her cry. It wasn’t hysterical..just sort of squirmy and scared. But that was the last step so it was all done really fast. She went hopping out to the waiting room telling S and Emma (did I mention SIL and S happen to have an appointment at the same time? I really felt like that was an answer to prayer…I was concerned yesterday about Emma seeing Lexi get hers done since Emma has to go Wednesday and in general what to do with Emma if Lexi freaked out. Emma tends to get upset if Lexi does) she had eaten Cotton Candy (the scent of her laughing gas). So I guess all is well. She got to eat right away so all was back to normal this afternoon. Just a trip to the grocery store, lots of watermelon and cooked cupcakes and then it was bedtime.
I’m smack-down in the middle of a bunch of season finales at the moment. Back to it…
Yesterday my family and I spent an inordinate and wasteful amount of time watching Season 1 of One Tree Hill. After church and lunch, the girls went home with Scott’s sister so I headed to Mom’s after a CVS trip and we watched a few episodes. I headed out for church and came back for more episodes. One Tree Hill is like that though…it’s like one long running drama with no good episode to end on.
The kids fell asleep around 9:30 and we all just kept watching…almost until midnight!! The girls and I did something very unlike us and stayed the night. They were really knocked out by 10 so there was no real point in trying to get them strapped into car seats at that point.
But man, was it a tough night. I didn’t sleep well at all thanks to some caffeine and different surroundings as well as crying children. I might be working on five hours of sleep right now. We were up by 8 and out the door so I could get them home to get ready for school. That part actually worked out very nicely as the kids were wide awake and happy to get ready for school. We were early to school and I got a nice start on the day. But I’m going to be hating it by this afternoon.
By the way, we’ve heard from Scott in Turkey every day and he doesn’t give many details but he always says they’re doing well and he sounds good. Only four more days left!
