OK, I usually don’t post things like this but the other weekend when we were at our spring festival I looked over to see this BABY hanging off the monkey bars. You can see the dad was lifting him up there, letting go and then waiting for him to let go. The boy never got hurt but I was amazed at this baby’s strength! Apparently they were too as you can see a family member/friend off to the left filming it.

Mother’s Day
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
OK, yes, I’m a day late on the Mother’s Day post. This weekend was crazy busy. My Internet was gone Friday night and we were out of town Saturday evening and then gone all day Sunday. So yesterday was basically spent at church and then our parents’ houses. We spent THREE hours at Texas Roadhouse yesterday evening. It was almost as busy as Outback was the night before. The girls and I did manage a quick picture when we came home between parents’ houses.
This is the card Emma made me at school. It was a fill-in the blank and she drew pictures with each one.
My favorite thing about my mommy is that she plays Dora with me.
My mommy looks prettiest when she goes to church.
My favorite food my mommy cooks is cookies!
If I could give my mommy something special, just from me, it would be a puppy.
And finally, here’s part of the video they showed yesterday at church. I LOVE how Emma is looking at Lexi expecting her to say I love Mommy while Lexi searches for the right words and then rolling her eyes at saying Happy Mother’s Day.
Hardwoods Complete
As I mentioned in the previous post, we didn’t do the laundry room or hallway and only had 10 planks left. So, I guess next on the list (after the baseboards) is tiling the laundry room. Here are a bunch of pictures.
I’m realizing in some ways, these dark hardwoods are HIGH MAINTENANCE. I don’t regret it at all but I’m having to sweep a lot more than normal!
i’m here…
I just realized a post I wrote from my iPhone didn’t actually post last night. So here I thought you were all updated and you aren’t! Here’s a quick run down…
- Scott finished the foyer late Thursday evening.
- Friday evening we went out with J&J and came home and caught up on Grey’s.
- Today him and I worked on the sunroom and FINISHED PUTTING THE HARDWOODS DOWN!! And get this, we didn’t end up doing the hallway and we only had TEN planks left. So we really didn’t have a choice in the matter. OH and we didn’t do the laundry room either so I guess that’s going to be tile!!
- This evening we went about an hour away to meet a friend and her family for dinner and shopping. We ended up waiting and hour and a half for a table at Outback! It sounds painful but really we had a good time talking and catching up. We also managed to squeeze in some shopping and the girls got several new outfits, dresses and even a pair of shoes.
- Tomorrow will be busy trying to balance the whole Mother’s Day thing. Emma could not wait to give me the card she made me at school. It was the sweetest thing ever. I’ll post more on that tomorrow and also upload some pictures of the floors!
Emma today
We saw our first Smart Car here around town today.
Me: Girls, look at that little car!
Emma: Awwww. *pause* Awwww.

Emma: Purple and pink. Black and white. Gold and silver. Horseys and cows. They all go together don’t they mommy? Is that a good idea because I’m thinking it is.

While I’m on the phone 5 feet away with a lovely representative from our Insurance company…
Emma (loudly): Mommy! There’s a ball of poop on the floor!!
Have I mentioned Lexi’s still not doing well with potty training?
End of Day Randomness
- Today was a tough day. Or, at least from 12-4 was. I had 3 girls under 5 here by myself while trying to work. A few highlights include finding hot pink and black play dough in the carpet and Emma standing in her windowsill too scared to get down. Let’s just say my blood pressure was up for the afternoon.
- Bible study got canceled today. Apparently everyone forgot it was bible study day and I called it quits when only 1 person had shown up 15 minutes into it.
- Our water went out again this afternoon delaying laundry, washing dishes, flushing toilets and washing hands. Twice in one week is sort of annoying.
- Glad to see Jason go before Syesha after last night’s disaster. I have never, ever seen such relief in a contestant’s face and demeanor after getting kicked off. I’m hoping for a David against David finale.
- I still love my floors.
- Our dog doesn’t. She has yet to walk on them. She has spent all week either outside or on a rug right inside the back door.
- I guessed right on May being a great month for my OTH site. In the past WEEK I’ve made $350.
- Well, I can’t think of any better news than that right now. I’m going to watch one more episode of Gossip Girl to get caught up and then go to bed.
Hardwoods Continued
Today another trooper came over to help Scott and they worked so well together all day and got the tricky kitchen done. The only things left now are the foyer, which Scott is going to do on Friday and the sunroom which he’s planning to do Saturday. Also left is the laundry room. He left it alone because we’re deciding whether we want tile down in there. Not sure yet. Also, we don’t think we have enough for the hall and I don’t think Scott wants to deal with all the cutting around the bedroom doors and it doesn’t bother me not to do the hall so I think we’re going to leave the hall carpet.
I’m really, really happy with the floors though. It just looks completely different. I keep walking around with my head down staring at them. The ONLY complaint I have is that it shows every single piece of dust and dirt. I’ll need to find the best cleaning tricks so we don’t go crazy nitpicking over the dust.
Anyway, here’s the kitchen.
