Ever want to save an online video to your computer? I know people want to do it all the time with YouTube videos. But it doesn’t stop at just YouTube videos. As an entertainment blog owner, I think of Facebook videos, videos from News Station sites or other Entertainment web sites where I’d really like to have my own copy. Whether it be to upload to my iPhone or create a montage video of my own. Sites such as http://keepvid.com have emerged and work well for YouTube videos but it doesn’t work for everything.
I’ve finally found a great software that automatically recognizes a video is playing in your browser and downloads it! Effect Matrix has a tool called YouTube Video Download Tool. The name is a bit misleading because it works on more than just YouTube. I successfully downloaded a Facebook video just this morning! Just click the “Snart Sniffing” button and within seconds, the video is downloaded! Love. it.
I have this one video (not YouTube) that I’d love to download of a Twilight behind-the-scenes clip that has my husband in it, so I was excited to tell him about your recommendations. He just looked it up and unfortunately it’s Windows software and we only have Macs.
Why not try flash video capture? It supports almost all video sharing sites.
If you’re in need of a video player, you can also use one of the many available. I use RealPlayer which was free to download and super easy to use. It not only acts as a video player and downloader but also includes some editing features and a built in converter. Converting formats sometimes is unfortunately hard to avoid.
