Trying to make this a quick one…
Michael Sarver Does not showcase his vocals at all. In fact, he pales in comparison to the original. He’s in trouble tonight.
Allison Iraheta — Blame It On The Heart: She does well with whatever she sings. Seriously.
Kris Allen Make you Feel My Love – That is one of my favorite love songs ever. And the way he sang it, almost brought me to tears. And songs just don’t do that. I loved it.
Lil Rounds — Independence Day: Did not fit her well. At all.
Adam Lambert — Ring of Fire: If you can close your eyes and try to ignore the snarling in his voice, Adam sounded good. But other than that, he was just gross tonight. And butchered that song. He DID have one spot were it was impressive but he’s yucky to me. I do not care to see him on tour at all!
Scott MacIntyre — Wild Angels: Heather and I likened Scott to the guy that writes the music for the elevator or “on hold”. It was nice and pretty but does it really fit American Idol?
Alexis Grace — Jolene: She lost me on this. She had some bad notes and I agree..she needs to dirty it up some more. But not in the same way Adam dirties it up.
Danny Gokey — Jesus Take the Wheel: The beginning was a little scary. He was talking it a little more than singing it but halfway through he was amazing. I know he wants to sing mainstream, but he is a ringer for a Christian singer.
Anoop Desai — You’re Always On My Mind: He scared me when he said he was going to change it up, but I thought he did GREAT. Anoooop!
Megan Joy — I Go Walking After Midnight: There’s not much I liked. Her voice IS unique but again, it was kind of hokey for me.
Matt Giraud — So Small: Loved, loved, loved this.
Well honestly I think overall Matt and Kris took tonight. Danny at parts sang circles around them but from start to finish, I have to give it to them.
I think Michael and Scott are going to be bottom 2.

I pretty much agree with you on all of ’em tonight. I usually like Michael but that song was just not right, and although I tend to be a bit of an Adam fan he scared me tonight. Loved Anoop, Kris, and Allison.

I really wish that you could vote for who you want to go home rather than who you want to stay. There were quite a few contestants that did really well tonight. My faves were Kris, Anoop and Matt. I just want Adam to go home and go home right now so we never have to be subjected to that awful mess again. TERRIBLE!!!

I was so disappointed in Michael. He really bombed last night. Adam kinda freaked me out. I was glad when he stopped singing(?). Excellent comment on Scott. I love Danny’s voice. What an awesome sound…. Can you believe Allison is 16??

I liked Michael’s spunky retorts to the judges. True, he didn’t choose a song that showcased his vocal abilities, but he did a good job on the song nonetheless.
I’m warming up to Kris. He did a very nice job. Ditto for Matt. Haven’t been really crazy about either of these guys but they’re growing on me.
Danny’s song choice was poor – honestly, that song was overrated even with Carrie Underwood, who is also overrated.
Really wanna pull for Scott, but he just doesn’t have enough vocal range to compete with this crowd. And give that, his song choice was bad, bad, bad. He couldn’t get up into the right register to pull it off. And even as much as I love Martina McBride, this isn’t her best song.
Speaking of, Lil butchered “Independence Day” fiercely. For several weeks, I’ve contended that she’s not nearly as talented as she’s been credited for, and this week’s performance proved that.
I’ve been a big fan of Anoop all along and he did me proud this week!!
Megan is a real trooper for pushing thru a horrendous bout of flu to perform. But her voice and style are so unique that not many songs fit it well. And for me, it didn’t work very well with the Patsy Cline song. I’m still rooting for her, but she’s gotta make more folksy song picks.
Adam is a train wreck! Good Lord, he so badly wants to be Jim Morrison incarnate. He’s terribly overrated.

By the way, Randy Travis is a terrific guy and he has certainly crafted some great songs, but I dunno that you can really take vocal cues from him. C’mon, all due respect to his musical talents, let’s be honest – he’s only a passable singer. Still, he handled the challenge gracefully and I got a big kick out his response to Adam.
Why not instead have somebody like George Strait or Martina McBride? Or how cool would it have been to have Brooks & Dunn?
The Idol producers need to be choosing mentors who’re a bit more relevant – y’know, someone who’s actually had a song on ANY chart in the past decade. Or if not a recent charter, then at least someone who has legendary vocal skills.
