Today’s the day I share my outfits from the week with The Pleated Poppy’s What I Wore Wednesday. I pair my outfits with inspirational photos. Read more about that here.
I started off the week attempting last week’s challenge picture. Here’s a reminder of our little inspirational finch:

My goal was to try to pull in the gray, black and white print, red and peachy accents together. Not an easy feat.
I’m not sure it mirrors the picture exactly but I like the outfit and like that I would never have naturally put them together and yet, it works.
This second attempt was closer to the picture.
I feel like the mustard was truer to the picture than the peachy color and I like it paired with red.
Also, I feel like I should note that the scarf is a T-shirt scarf I made in less than 15 minutes after I shopped several stores and could not find the right color red.

I love every one of your outfits. I’ve never actually thought to take inspiration from a bird though. I might just have to try that!
Nice job on putting together some really pretty looks.

Thank you very much! Color definitely inspires me and always has. I’ve been amazed to find the color, pattern and creativity I have found in birds. It’s pretty amazing!
We’ll have an inspiration challenge photo posted on the Facebook page, likely another bird. Would love to have you join in!

I really enjoy this series. I have red pants and a mustard sweater but never thought to put them together. To be honest, I get more ideas from your photos instead of the nature ones. I guess I’m not there yet…

Hey, whatever works. In the end, it is still inspired by nature. I’m still learning new color combinations and am glad to pass them on!
Niki says
Ooo please tell me how to make that tshirt scarf!
Amy says
Niki, on Pinterest do a t-shirt scarf search and many different ones will come up. Basically you just cut strips of a tshirt from the bottom all the way to the arm holes. You stretch them out so the fabric rolls in and then just gather them together. I doubled the scarf to make it shorter once it was done. I’ll try to find the exact link I used later tonight! Hope that helps!
