I tried to come up with a works for me that was "homegrown". Some new trick I had learned for cooking or my laundry or something original. But looking back over the past week, what has worked for me is simply a web site….moneysavingmom.com. Actually it is more of Crystal’s willingness to share what she’s found as the "best deals" at CVS and Walgreens that have saved me a TON of money. I’ve saved well over 50% every time I’ve followed her advice and plan to save a ton more in the future. If you’re at all curious about how to save some money and have a CVS, Walgreens or Kroger close by, her site is the place to go. I don’t have a Kroger but I do have a CVS and Walgreens right across from each other about a mile away so I take advantage of every deal that I can that makes sense for us.
My family is astounded that first of all I’m even doing this but second of all, how much I’ve saved. My sister has now given me a list of all her regular items and wants to keep an eye for it if I can get a good deal on it. So far, moneysavingmom.com works for me!!
Last week I had a big CVS week, today was Walgreens. While I didn’t walk away with money, I did save almost 75%. I spent $35 out of pocket, saved $18.10 at the register, got a $10 coupon for next time and have to fill out $10.79 in rebates. All in all, I guess you could say I got $53 worth of stuff for $14. And I’m set for next time with $10 free.
The biggest deal I got was 3 big containers of Herbal Essence for $3. You can do it too if you just clip the coupon from the Sunday paper and then use it with their 3/$20 sale and Register Rewards sale in store.
What I got for $14:
The Herbal Essence is $6.99 not on sale so basically I bought two of them and got the rest for free.
Today I was one of those people. The people stand in front of you in line at the grocery store with stacks of coupons. By the end of the transaction, the receipt literally has reached the floor. The cashier looks at them and says, “Your total is $50. Today, you’ve saved $69. Thank you for shopping with us.” Woo Hoo!!! I saved 55% on my grocery bill today!
For anyone that lives near me, Lowe’s Foods is having triple coupons until tomorrow. Go buy a Sunday paper and combine it with the in store coupons. You have to use the Lowe’s foods coupons in their flyer to get the extra off even if the item is on sale to anyone with a Lowe’s card.
Look at me giving coupon advice…;)
OK, so I went to CVS and bought $18.23 worth of stuff for $13.76. Not bad but then I got $15.56 worth of ECB. So basically CVS paid me $1.80 to take home $18.23 worth of products. Sweet.
What did I get?
All except the Beano I needed or will need soon and didn’t buy anything I wouldn’t normally use. You should have seen my grin walking out of CVS.
